Off the Wagon

I've been working hard to clear the extra clutter out of my house, but I fell off of the wagon this week. When I was dropping some things off at Goodwill (good!), Sofia talked me into actually going in (bad!).

...even worse, I found this sweet little hutch for $10.


I couldn't resist...didn't even try!


All it needs is new knobs!



Cozy and Boo immediately had a tea party to celebrate.

And Jonny Makes Three

Pam was right; it's easy to stretch them into a nice doughnut shape.


In other news, we officially have a new irish dancer in the family (and much to her chagrin, it isn't Cozette).

The changed the cost structure for dance, so it costs us slightly more a month for lessons, but...after two siblings, any additional ones are free! I told all of the boys they were enrolled. Anthony immediatelybroke out in a rousing, I'm-making-fun-of-irish-dancing jig. Jonny started to cry. I was forced to admit that I was kidding.

As it turned out, Jonny was forced to come with us to the first week of dance (he didn't fit in Tony's car). I told him he could play an hour of Diablo when we got home (he found it in a box and had been begging to install it) if he would participate in dance for one week. Deal!

Afterwards he couldn't wait to get home and play...but first he wanted to practice his new dance steps!

Dusty (Pink) Projects

When I was a senior in high school, my Mom was into quilting. I stole some of her supplies and started this project- intent on redecorating my room. It never happened. This project has been collecting dust for a long time! Amazing what you find when you clean your closets.


I think I still like the brown and blue...but I'm not so sure about this shade of pink.


Putting it on my list of things to finish.

Dollars to Doughnuts

We've been making "cheater doughnuts" about once a week lately...because sometimes you just need a doughnut, but don't have the time or dough (get it) to make a Krispe Kremes run. I'm not saying these compare in quality - they just tide you over.

We start with some generic breakfast biscuits. I can get a 4-pack of these at the grocery store for $1.50


Throw them in some cooking oil. (I keep it on medium-low; otherwise the outside gets overdone before they cook through.)


Then we roll them in cinnamon and sugar or shake them in a brown bag with some powdered sugar. Yum. My kids think I'm a genius.

Egg Money...but not mine :(

We've started buying eggs from a guy at Tony's work - aren't they rainbowlicious! $2 a dozen...but these are organically hand-fed and pampered super-chicken eggs...and they're so dang cute.

Bagged 'em and Tagged 'em

As part of my effort to get the house clean enough that some complete strangers will want to buy it from us, I'm trying to organize and pack away my projects (instead of keeping them strewn about my house). It's heart-wrenching. I'm afraid they'll get packed away in a box that will fall off of our moving truck, never to be seen again. (Sofia swears that happened to a box of her toys - and I wouldn't doubt it! We did have a set of movers shoot off an entire bottle of bbs from Odie's Red Rider between Connecticut and here. True story.)


So, I have put them all in clear bags. Labelled. Ready to go into a tote...where I hope to be able to easily find them again.


I would give you a project "headcount", but I keep finding more!
