Ahh! The sweet, sweet fruit of my half-hearted labors!

I have been threatening to sew for at least a week now, but, between laundry and...well..pregnancy, I was having some trouble getting past the basic prep phases. One day I had time to get my fabric washed and ironed. The next day I got a few things cut out. I looked up the same zippered pocket tutorial at least twice, only to be distracted my some other task...or sleep. Well, last night it all finally came together and I finished something! (Actually, I think I just ran out of prep steps.)
Two cute little (seriously, they're very petite) clutches, complete with cute (and o-so-practical) zippered pockets inside. One was immediately snatched up by Annika (are you as surprised as I am that she wanted the gray one?), and the other is being thrown in a package for a far-off friend. If I had known how easy they were, I probably would have gotten around to making them ages ago.
I gave myself a big pat on the head for learning a new skill - the zipper pocket! Seriously, I hate learning new things. New sewing skills, languages, driving directions...whatever. I want to know how to do them, but the whole process is painful just the same, especially if there is no one there to walk me through it. I'm only comforted by the fact that Tony always thinks I'm putting things together incorrectly when I'm sewing. That tells me that, even for people with a great since of spatial reasoning, what I'm doing (correctly, I might add!) is just a tad counter intuitive. Then I don't feel like such an idiot the next time I spend twenty minutes staring at my newest project, trying to figure out the next step. It's either that or spend way too much quality time with my seam ripper!

  1. All of your sewing prjects are so cute, I love the clutch. I wish I could sew or at least have the patience to learn.

  2. Now you have to teach me! Those are dang stinking cute, Lia. I want to sew! (That last part is said in an especially whiney "no fair!" voice.)

  3. Very cute. Zippers can be so scary. I've seen so many cute zippered pouches but I am scared to death to try.
