Caloricious

Our church had a fundraising dessert auction last weekend. Oh, the horror. I had so many sweets in my house! Between the desserts we made (some of which didn't set in time for the event) and the ones we bought...

I think we're finally down to a dish of peanutbutter fudge...but it was a lot of work getting there. Along the way, we did discover that rhubarb pie and panna cotta taste darned good together. It's a totally valid substitute for vanilla ice cream.
..so I guess the calories weren't wasted.

  3. Is panna cotta kind of like Italian flan? That's what the wikepedia article made it sound like. But your picture looks much much yummier.

  4. Beth: It is a custard, like flan, but without eggs...and with vanilla beans, so it has a very different flavor and texture than flan.

  6. The wiki pictures looked totally like flan. Something about the gelatinous molds look really unappetizing to me. Yours looks very custardy and creamy. Much nicer to my non-flan loving diet.
