x2

We spent a whole lot of time in the car this weekend. We drove down to Portlandia for a joint feis/visit trip.

The kids were troopers about it. They don't mind a drive if they know there's something fun at the end of it - cousins! (Or, in Cozy's case - the cousin's doggy!)

I have 2 sisters down in Portland now, and they both came and brought their kids to see the girls compete.

The girls loved having them there...and that's some serious commitment, because they had to get up pretty early to be there. (The beginner competitions are typically the first...and thus earliest event of the day.)

..and yes, it was Annika's first feis! She did great - winning a first and a second place.

Sofia got 2 thirds - one in treble jig (their first hardshoe dance) and the other in the single jig...I think?

I don't know why I didn't get my camera out for the other, more relaxing part of our trip? Jumping on the trampoline at Aunt Sarah's...checking out Aunt Rachel's new digs. (All of her gardening made me want to just dive right in and ruin my nails for the rest of the summer! ...but I'm using self-restraint. Instead, I'm getting our bags together for the move...having utilities shut off...getting the oil changed (before our coast to coast drive)...exciting things like that.

The day after we got home from Portand...

Boo: I want to go back to the big house with the trampoline.
Me: Oh, buddy. That's so far away.
Boo: No, it's just around the corner! Let's go!

...and it just made me want to cry, because, compared to where we're heading, it is just around the corner.

  1. Annalia, I'm going to miss you and your family so much!! Seriously. Although we didn't hang out a ton while you were here, I always loved running into you at the park or in the halls at church. You are such a fun and easy person to talk to. :) I hate that you're moving. :(
