We got Sofia a "therapy cat", who she named Matt. We thought he'd be cheaper and more enjoyable than actual therapy.
And, "Go to your room and cuddle your cat!" feels like better parenting than "Go to your room and eat chocolate!"

Kittens are a lot less work....not that I'd choose one over a baby....but I probably should.
