Today, for example, I was supposed to be finishing recital dresses for the upcoming St.Patty's Day festivities. Instead, I spent all day gardening with the kids. Anthony and I replaced a dirty tarp with a fresh new garden bed. (I know, it's hard to see the cute little furrows in the picture.)
Annika helped me plant a dozen prim roses.
Jonny and James shovelled dirt every which way, but I think the end result is still rather fetching.
Really, how could I spend the day inside, when the siren voice of Spring was calling me?
(Those are my crocuses - aka - the embodiment of the siren voice of Spring.)
Only two questions remain.
1. When am I going to sew those dang dresses?
2. Why do I spend so much time on my side yard, that isn't even visible from my kitchen window? Maybe I'll start calling it the "hidden garden".
In other good news, my Irish Moss survived me forgetting to plant it for three months. It looked mostly dead last fall, but now it only looks partly dead.
I miss being able to garden! I'm also a bit jealous that it's spring for you guys already...it's still very much winter here!
ReplyDeleteIf my yard was as cute as yours I don't think I would get anything done inside.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Your garden looks great! I get a lot of other stuff done too when I'm avoiding my real work.
ReplyDeleteYour yard looks fabulous! I'm sorry to say the little stepable stuff you planted for me is no longer. Some stinky animal dug it up almost immediately after you planted it. I tried reviving it to no avail. And the rest of yard is crazy. Now that yours is done, would you like to come help?
ReplyDeleteI love how you called spring the "siren song". So true!! And I love the idea of calling your side yard The Hidden Garden. It's so pretty, too bad people can't see it from the street either!
ReplyDeleteAha, this is exactly the type of post of which I spoke. Or are you planning to take your garden when you move?
ReplyDeleteCourtney: It wouldn't be very hidden if they could.
ReplyDeletePam: Live in the moment. ...I'll probably take the chairs with me.
So jealous. I worked a bit in my flower beds on Saturday -- finally pruning things that should have been pruned in December! But then it started raining and now today it's snowing again. Bah!
ReplyDeleteFun. Vinca is to me as crocuses are to you. But it's to the same effect.
