Tea Time

I think this is the favorite Christmas present I gave. Thus, it was partly homemade and about a week late. Tea. Cookies. Sugar cubes. Teacups. Placemats. All of the makin's of a tea party!

I got the idea when my MIL gave me these pre-quilted place mats. Unfinished. Someone had given them to her...and she didn't care for them. I thought they were outdated....but had potential.

All they needed was some modern binding and cute embroidery.

Sofia wanted me to make it a "lol cat", but I wasn't sure my 8-year-old niece would know what that was.

Instead, I went with the "decorative kitty tired of just sitting on the table - ready for a cup of her own".

...and, of course, the ever-adorable intimate objects with smiley faces. The Japanese are pioneers of cuteness.

My Sofia is also a never-ending spout of talent (and cuteness). I handed her my water-soluble pen and told her to draw me something. She whipped this right out.

Girlfriend needs to be an illustrator.

  2. So sweet! Love everything about those mats! Hmmm. I wonder if I can find Lucy some at the thrift store... And then learn how to embroider...and finish a project.

You and the hooligans are uber talented and sometimes arouse feelings of jealousy over here in the Tunnell household. But only the nice, adore your style sort of jealousy.
