I'm going to do a little garden update this week, so everyone can see how the various projects are going.
They're all still "in the works", as you can see from my front flower beds/flagstone storage. (I have big, big plans for that stone. I've had both the plans and the stone for nearly a year now. :)
But, progress is progress. You just have to pat your own back and appreciate how far you've come. Sadly, I don't have photos of the weedy jungle that was here originally. Picture stoney corner x 10.
Last summer I weeded it down to this:
...planted a few things...(the iris is big because we inherited at least a couple nice plants among the weeds.)
...and now it's this:
...and, just around the corner...ooo-la-la!
...and on the other side of the front door, this:
...blossomed into this!
The flagstones I threw down to curtail leaky-faucet-erosion...
....are covered in blossomy thyme!
My theory with flagstones is that stuff is going to grow between. It might as well be stuff you like.
...and that's it for the flower beds. They make me happy.
Planted anything lately?
So Pretty, Lia! I transplanted about 30 naughty raspberries that were growing in all sorts of crazy places. Wish you were here, I have about 20 more to go. At least they aren't blackberries.
ReplyDeletethanks for the pictures Lia, everything looks beautiful! I think of you everytime I pull weeds (which I hate;)but is so much more fun when doing it with you.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. I love that you have found something you love to do that makes everything around you better. Miss you!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I am mostly maintaining this year. Oh, and trying to grow grass in our backyard. That has been more of an endeavour than I would have liked. :-/
ReplyDeleteI'm a little jealous. :) It looks amazing. I've always been impressed with your eye in the garden.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! In that last picture, is that thyme growing in between the flagstones? It's so pretty! My thyme is so big and bushy, not low to the ground like that. Maybe you have a different variety?
ReplyDeleteWell done! You have certainly put your stamp on your home and garden.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful garden! I love watching plants grow! They do it so quickly. I want a flagstone path but currently have no where good to put one. Joe did build me an arbor over the fence gate and I now am the proud parent of one boy and one girl kiwi! They are already showing significant growth in the two weeks they've been in the ground. Those things are beasts!
ReplyDeleteYou do have a good eye for a garden. Will you come help me finish mine? I know what I want most in my garden but I don't know where to put them or how to fill in the gaps(besides let them grow).
