Pajammyjams

I swear this is not going to be another post about gardening...it's going to be a normal post with a small gardening aside at the beginning.

I just have to say how amazed I am by Jonny's watermelons. We've counted 14 so far, ranging from this:

...to this:

...and they seem to grow that much overnight. It's so exciting!

Anyhow, I've been cleaning my office. It's a sort of 3-year undertaking, because I'm slow....and a little bit of a hoarder.  No, it's not my fabric stash (which is neatly folded in totes underneath my bed), it's my fabric pile. You know, bits of fabric leftover from finished projects, clothes I can't throw away (because I'm going to "remake" them, and, of course, actual neglected WIPs.

I know my organizational process isn't super-efficient, but it's all I can manage. So, I've been assembling half-finished projects and hanging them neatly on hangers. Now I can find them easily and maybe even complete them - gasp!

In the midst of this, I found some leftover flannel - just enough for Cozy jammies....and rather than throw it away, I spent the day sewing. (No, I'm not easily distracted, why do you ask?)

If you look very closely, you can just barely discern the bow....

I sort of followed the pattern.....ish....because I had to make them just a little less frilly...and add pockets.

Can you see the mistake I made when I cut them out?

Yes, the pattern on one of the legs is upside down. Same goes for one of the arms.
Cozy didn't care. She gave me a huge, super-happy thank-you hug.

...and, since we were doing pictures, the kids insisted I take some silly ones.

  1. it isn't a mistake... one leg and arm are for others to see upright and the others are for cozy to look at upright :)

    come play with us!

    1. Exactly....maybe I'll do it on the next one too - just to prove it was intentional!

Yay! Coming on Monday! I'll call ya tomorrow!

  2. Yeah, I've been needing to address my fabric scraps. I just culled a bunch of clothes that I grew out of (sigh) and am having trouble getting rid of them because I could remake them into kids clothes. I am jealous of Jonny's watermelons. I planted a ton of seeds, indoors and out and not one of them have taken and they were a cooler weather variety too. It's been an interesting year for the garden and I think my parsley is my favorite producer so far.

    1. You win some and you lose some in gardening. I've lost plenty, and PNW WA is definitely not a place where you can win with watermelons! :)

  3. I love your kids! Plus Sofia did a bunch of my dishes tonight while she was babysitting. Which must mean that you are an incredibly awesome mom!

    1. :) I'm glad she did some dishes, and as much as I'd like to claim awesome momness...I think that means I'd have to own crappy momness every time they did something stinky.

  4. Sarah and Chloe loved seeing the watermelon pictures and of course, want to grow some. I told them NO. No point in wasting seed on that endeavor over here!

I made 3 pairs of jammie pants for Sarah a couple of years ago and made the exact same mistake. I actually checked the fabric of the 1st pair I made (4 all together) and saw that it didn't have an up or down. So I then cut them all out without thinking to check the rest. Oh well. It happens!

  5. awesome about the watermelons!
So I have the same kind of fabric pile with WIPs...today I started taking things out of it to somehow organize it...then I realized that really until I can SEW IT, there's nothing that I can do. So I worked on what I could actually organize (because I have to get the room cleared and ready for guests on Tuesday).

  6. I am easily distracted whilst organizing my sewing supplies, too. ;)
