Well, the kids broke my camera...by dropping it. (SO glad it happened to be them dropping it that time!) I never did like that camera. It took horrible pictures...but I did like having a camera. It will be missed. ...and hopefully replaced.
Also, things are kind of sorting themselves out with medical school. Such a process! Eleven applications resulted in seven interviews (four down, three to go!) We're on one wait list and have one acceptance. I'm sure we won't have any idea where we're going until May....and then we'll move in July. I'm sure that isn't as big of a deal if you're a more traditional student (twenty-something and single - or married without kids and house), but, for us, it's going to be C-R-A-Z-Y.
Still, one of the most important parts of this plan (to me) has come together. Tony was accepted into one of the Navy scholarship programs. Meaning:
1. We will have an income (I'm ok with a pay cut...just not all of it!)
2. We will have military benefits...like health and dental. Yeah!
3. Tony gets to stay in the Navy! (You kinda hate to give up that retirement with 14 years in.) Besides, I think he looks pretty hot in his uniform.
4. Only downside: We'll have to use that GI Bill instead of giving it to the kids. (They'll have to earn their own...or use the money we've already saved! :) BYU,kids! It's cheap! And awesome! I've been brainwashing them in this direction for years, so....hope that pays off.)
All-in-all, a dang good deal.
Since I'm camera-less, instead of leaving you with a shot of the wonderful new chicken shirt I got at Goodwill, you get a "six years ago this month" segment.
I got my first nose job/biopsy!
Jonny was a little 1-year-old, trying to wake up his Dad.
My big girls were playing dress-up. Red-handed Annika had to resort to piracy.
...and Sofi to...princessy?
Have a nice day!
Sorry about the camara Lia! I'd give you mine ....but, I can't live without it! (thanks to you guys) Oh, a trip down memory lane, weren't they cute! love you!
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo! An income while you're in school is a good thing. :o)
ReplyDeleteYou had a nose job/biopsy?? That doesn't sound good.
Nikko: Skin cancer...but the non-metastasizing kind (i.e. the "good" kind). I just call it a nose job, because the cut out a piece of my nose. TMI?
ReplyDeleteSo happy that the Navy got that one right! That's fabulous news! Good luck with the decision/acceptance process. Are any of the schools out this way??? As for your haircut...you totally rock your "mullet"! I love it!
ReplyDeleteBig Congrats to Tony!! I'm sure it's going to be a challenge for all of you, but what a great opportunity, too, and a real learning experience for your children to see their Dad in school. Best wishes for all of you, and maybe Tony will be stationed at NHB one of these years. Good luck with the house sale stuff.
ReplyDeleteWhat awesome news!! Congrats to you guys! And I love the pictures. :)
ReplyDeleteHope you get a really cool new camera. I love the memories. Isn't funny how older sisters can talk their younger sisters into doing nearly anything? Until they go too far. So, would you like to have a baby swing back to lug with you across the country?
ReplyDeleteMedical school? Wow. That's a big step. But the scholarship sounds good. Enjoy the anticipation!
ReplyDeleteBeth: If you want to keep it, feel free. Tony swears he won't let me have any more kids. So mean!
ReplyDeleteYAY for keeping a job, benefits, and time in Navy to retirement!
ReplyDeleteHaving to use the GI bill isn't too bad; how were you going to split it up among all of the Hooligans? (No, really, I am trying to figure that one myself so if you had a plan please share)
I hope you get your school of choice!
yeah!! glad things are happening again for you guys :) I love the old pics
ReplyDeletewell, yeah! I'm glad he got into the scholarship program. That will be nice.
ReplyDeletethe pictures of your kids from a while ago are so cute. They grow too fast!
Hang in there during the chaos of school-searching (and the related move, etc. etc. etc.!) At least you'll have a brand-new camera to record the pandemonium, right? :-)
