Cabin John Park

We found another train park - because that's just what we do.

The track travels through the forest, just like at our last "train park". During our ride, we saw a little Bambi munching leaves!

...and I didn't get a picture of it, but someone has garden gnomes sitting on random stumps along the tracks. :)

Tony had the day off last Tuesday, so he helped me find the park...and we took the littles there for a test run.

Today, I forced everyone to go. Driving myself added some time to the trip...because I got lost and ended up in Bethesda.

My dear, dear son, Anthony is pleasant and compliant when you send him up ladders to clean the gutters. He will climb behing the stove to retrieve a dead mouse. Mow yards. Whatever. ....but - trying to get him to go on any sort of outing with the family lately...and he is the biggest pill!

I tried to explain to him that, while he might not miss us at all, the rest of us are sad that school is going to start and that we'll be seeing less of him. SO, try NOT to make us look FORWARD to it!

He was rewarded for his cooperation on our park trip by Cozette (who he adores) happily sitting on his lap during the entire train ride - mewing like a kitten (Cozy, not Anthony).

We also did some good squirrel-watching while we were there. We were trying to lure them down from trees with acorns...but other kids were trying to tackle them. The squirrels decided that the acorns weren't worth it. In the end, Jonny found a tree with a nice, big hole in it. We dubbed it "the squirrel's house" (creative, I know)and filled it up with our acorn bait. :)

...and Jonny got some good "ninja training" in at the playground. If he doesn't get outside time, he'll do his climbing and "parkour"ing in the house. Not good.

...and that, my friends, is your rambling, train-of-thought post for the day.

  1. *Sigh* I need to get mine out more often. No ninjas here (at the moment) but I have a few who I think are future WWF contenders. And we've had several days in a row of rain. Not a good combination!!

  2. Mine climb on the furniture like that, too. In fact, half of homeschool-time is spent with me saying, "Sit on your bum, not your head!"

    You guys are so fun!
