So we went to foodie Saturday at Cosmos, where I got some {rice} gelato. Yummier than rice pudding.
I bought some glass dessert plates for all of the pies I've been making.
This was the pear and dried fruit pie. I think I could have done without the dried fruit, but liked the ginger-pear. What is a good, non-alcoholic substitute for rum? ...in pie. I made the pumpkin pies for the kids. ...and that was the end of the shortening.
While restocking our shortening at Costco, I bought some frivolous sedums...and followed some signs to a garage sale (that's how nice it was outside!) where I found something I had been looking for...
...a kitschy deer! Yes, I know. That's a weird thing to have on your shopping list, but I was honestly considering buying one on ebay.
I promptly painted it pink. The details will be added later.
your pie crust looks phenomenal!
ReplyDeleteyou must share the recipe!
cute deer dear. I just LOVE when you find a treasure on your list at yard sales...do you think I will be able to find a sterling silver tea set when the weather turns warm? no? people know stuff like that is worth moolah? dang.
I really want it for my dining room....Ill keep looking.
The deer is so adorable now that you've painted it. The first picture was a little crazy looking with the bulging eye... And ginger pear sounds amazing!
ReplyDeleteFun that you went garage saling! I saw some signs but we didn't have time to stop.
ReplyDeleteDo they have cantelope gelato? That was one of my favorites in Italy (besides hazelnut, which is my all time fave)
Your pictures are so nice Lia, pie looks just like the picture and I'm dying to know what your going to do with that cute little deer?
ReplyDeleteYour cute deer looks wonderful in pink.
