Bird Stuff

We've been taking classes at the local nature center every chance we get. James and Cozy did a "Winter birds" class, where I was amazed by the variety of birds at their feeders. PLEASE, BIRDS, COME TO OUR FEEDER!

Jonny got to participate in an owl class. He pulled apart an owl pellet. We think it was a barn owl (LOTS of hay)...

...who liked eating moles. He still has all of those nasty bones up in his room somewhere. I did that fun project with Sofi and Odie when they were little, so I'm oh-so-happy to let someone else have the pleasure this time.

It's always a joy to say hi to the turtles, put together gigantic puzzles, and take a walk through the woods.

...and covet their river birch. I so almost bought one last fall and now I have the perfect place for it!

In other bird news: Sofi's replacement parakeet is a total keeper. Yesterday it ate millet out of my hand, and it whistles and chirps happily when she plays her guitar!
