Brookside Gardens reminded me of the garden shows I've been to, except...it is outside and admission is free. Not to mention, less crowded. All in all, I'd like to move into one of their pagodas until winter. ...or maybe the tree house...
A few of our favorite things to do at Brookside:
Look for turtles and frogs in the pond.
We saw a group of five turtles sunning on a rock, but this was the only one I got a picture of.
Climb the "kissing tree".
We call it that because of all of the initials carved on the trunk...
...and because the weeeping branches really would make it an ideal place for stealing a kiss or two. (Don't tell my teenagers I said that!)
Chase...I mean observe butterflies
Splash in the stream inside the tropical greenhouse.
...that probably isn't technically allowed. Starfruit and banana trees, people! ...and tons of flowers I've only ever seen in Hawaii.
I was sad to leave...but tired enough to. Chasing little kids all over several acres wears on a person.
oh that garden is beautiful!!! I can't really feel at home somewhere until I've found a beautiful chunk of land to visit, that one looks like a nice one! :) I miss yas (and those turtles were sooo cool! the NW is in it's full swing ickiness right now with overcast raininess, a WA summer sounds GREEEAT!)
ReplyDeleteWe loved Brookside Gardens too! Can't wait to go back at Christmas time for all the lights!!!
